Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is facing an axe of existence due to the ruckus triggered by the officials. The negligence over the issue turned into a bitter experience for the 'Kharif' growers of this year.
Reportedly, the last date which was been finalized to insure the ‘Kharif Crops’ is July 31 last whereas the notification in relation, was publicized on July 30 last. According to the insiders of the department, the entire mismanagement that had taken place was because of the un-willingness of insurance companies. The first open tender went in vain as no corporate or government agency submitted tender to insure Tripura bearing heavy loss in the erstwhile financial years, following incessant floods.
Later in the second attempt, the tender was conferred to HDFC, as the lone pertaining agency. Though the department sought a requisition to extend the deadline considering for Tripura, but this year the performance of state agricultural department possibly confined to be termed as a ‘Flop Show’.
Notably, if the department somehow fails to insure the ‘Kharif Crops’ in this season then it would be very hard for the farmers to rejuvenate the agricultural grandeur of the state ahead with flood stricken debts sustained earlier in this year.
Meanwhile, regarding this matter a ‘blame-game’ among the Beat, Sector and District offices also rented the air, on the other hand, some section of intellectuals are terming it a failure of the newly incepted state government. It is also worthy to mention here, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana is a centrally outlined program by the NDA government, which insures crops charging a minimal 2% premium of the total cost.
