INPT condemns police’s lathi charge

AGARTALA:

Annoyed with the police department Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT) today expressed discontent over yesterday’s incident where police officials resorted to lathi-charge on the INPT supporters.

Reportedly, a group of INPT and Congress supporters staged a road blockade at Tulasikhar agitating against the attack on Congress candidate Pargya Debbarma. The police officials with no prior notice resorted baton-charge, a good number of party workers sustained injuries after the incident.

INPT General Secretary Jagadish Debbarma condemned the incident and claimed that all these incidents were as a part of a deep-rooted conspiracy to suppress the opposition.

“All the political parties has their rights to convey their message through demonstrations and political programmes but what had happened yesterday was, by all means, an attack on the democratic system”, Jagadish added.
