HC grants month stay for Brick Kilns

AGARTALA:

A division Bench of Tripura High Court today granted a time of one month to the Brick Kiln owners who had their kilns fallen adjoining the area of Neer-Mahal.

The bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Arindam Lodh also granted the time in humanitarian grounds while entertaining a writ petition filed by Manik Lal Bhowmik, one of the owners.

In an earlier ruling the High Court has barred the functioning of these Brick Kilns in order to protect Rudrasagar as a Ramsar convention site.

Following the verdict on the PIL, the Court Taken of its own, the district magistrate had sealed the kilns.

The court today however pronounced a stay on its earlier verdict for a month and the brick kiln owners were empowered to function till January 22.
