The main task of the State Government is to establish administration of law. The government lawyers have an extensive role for that purpose, said Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath at a training programme on “Role of Government Lawyers in the system of judgment” held at Pragna Bhavan today. He appealed the lawyers to become truthful, sincere, attentive and industrious to perform the job perfectly.
The newly appointed PPP, APP, Additional PP, GP and GA at different courts of the state have participated in the training programme organized with initiative of Tripura Law Training Institute and Research Center under Law Department.
Speaking on the occasion Law minister said, “According to the constitution Judiciary is the main pillar of democracy. Judiciary ensures good administration by rectifying the fault if administrative authority and Law department conducts any mistake. The three organs of the state government activate equally if any section of people become misguided by the influence of any evil power.”
Ratan Nath added, “The present state government has taken initiative not to deprive common people from their legal right and it has been decided to build up peaceful Tripura for establishing real administration of people. Meanwhile work has been started for that purpose.”
The Law minister also appealed to form a team of Government Lawyers for that purpose. The work will become possible when the government lawyers will become aware about latest act with their honesty, sincerity and hard work, he added.
Referring fame of the government depends on efficiency of government lawyers he advised the concerned lawyers to acknowledge the department about the problems which they would face in conducting government cases. At the same time he stressed on increasing conviction rate.
Law Secretary Datamohan Jamatia said, “The main responsibility of government lawyers is to bring verdict of cases in favour of the state government”. Referring 90 percent of civil cases are filed against the State Government he advised the concerned lawyers to represent properly the reasonable reply of the cases and the position of the government in the court.
He also said, separate training will be organized for police staffs in future.
Among others PP of High Court of Tripura Babul Choudhury, GA of the High Court Nitai Choudhury and Faculty Member of Research Center Dr. B.K. Kilikder and Subhendu Dasgupta were present in the training programme.
