Curtain down on Durga Puja, four day long festival ends peacefully

AGARTALA:

The four-day Durga Puja concluded successfully with Vijaya Dashami being observed and idols of the Goddess immersed in Howrah River. Although according to the rituals the Dashami is being observed on Saturday but the immersion continued even on Sunday at Dashamighat.

The state administration has ordered the club members to complete the immersion of idols within Wednesday next.

The big budget pandals are yet to immerse idols. The festival was celebrated with devotion and traditional gaiety across Tripura.

People performed puja in their homes and visited temples to offer prayers to Goddess Durga on the occasion of 'Vijaya Dasami'. With the cheers of “Asche Bochor abar hobe” goddess Durga was given adieu at Dashamighat followed by the celebrations of the ‘Vijaya Dashami’.

Wishes, messages, texts, greeting, exchange of sweets marked the occasion of Vijaya Dashami and is likely to continue over a period of time as it is a win of good over the evil.
