Tripura Under 19 cricket team placed in a very much strong position today in the ongoing Cooch Behar trophy under 19 cricket tournament. At the end of day two today at Nagaland cricket stadium, Jammu and Kashmir made 110 runs for the loss of 4 wickets with another 9 runs behind from Tripura. Earlier today Tripura made 264 runs in their first innings in reply to 145 runs which has been made by Jammu and Kashmir in their first innings.
In this regard Tripura took a crucial 119 runs first innings lead as on the third day of the match Tripura bowlers will have the aim to restrict the opposition to a low score so that Tripura batsmen can face the challenge and win the match easily. Opener Arup Datta, Captain Sankar Paul and Riaz Uddin batted superbly to put on a huge total while Chandan Roy also showed his all round skill. After picking up 3 wickets in the first innings Chandan Roy once again picked up 3 wickets today.
Tripura started day two from their overnight score of 130/2. Opener Arup Datta failed to add any run from his overnight score as he went out after scoring 52 from 83 balls with 7 fours. Dipayan Debbarma (12), Babul Dey (4), Sayantan Debbarma (0) went out cheaply and it looked like Tripura might get fail to cross 200. But Riaz Uddin batted superbly and holds the innings together as he got good support from Chandan Roy and Rohit Singh from the other end.
From 75.5 overs Tripura made 264 runs and thus took 119 runs first innings lead. Riaz Uddin made 68 from 92 balls with 12 boundaries while Chandan Roy remained unbeaten on 29 from 57 balls with 2 fours and 1 six. Among the bowlers Javid Ahmed and Umar Majeed picked up 3 wickets each. In reply at the end of day two Jammu made 110/4. Captain Qamran Iqbal single handedly pushing the team forward with an unbeaten 76. Chandan Roy picked up 3 wickets.
