Col C K Nayudu Trophy Under 23 Cricket: Tapas pick his career best figure 8/22 as Tripura defeats Assam by 161 runs

Tapas Mandal bowled his best figure of his cricketing career today as he picked up 8 wickets and for this incredible spell of bowling, Tripura registered their first win of the ongoing Col C K Nayudu trophy under 23 cricket tournament. At Goalapara cricket stadium today Tripura defeated Assam by a huge margin of 161 runs. Chasing 273 runs to win host Assam bundled out for a mere 111 runs and thus Tripura won the match and gathered full 6 points from the match. Tapas Mandal was the main architect behind this win.

Tripura scored 303 in their first innings while Assam scored a mere 135 runs in their first innings. Tripura then bundled out for 104 runs as today Assam resumed their second innings on 50/1 and today added only 61 runs before bundled out for a mere 111 runs. Assam batsmen had no clue what so ever in front of some outstanding spin bowling from Tapas Mandal as he picked up 8 opposition wickets. This was his best figure till now in the cricketing history. Tripura will play their third match against Jammu and Kashmir from October 26-29.

Assam started day four from their overnight score of 50/1 but they looked never settled in the match and had no clue in front of some outstanding spin bowling from Tapas Mandal. Only three batsmen today crossed the double digit. Rajjakuddin Ahmed scored 36 while Abhishek Thakuri made 22 and REoshan Alam made 18. Tapas Mandal broke the backbone of Assam innings as the whole team bundled out for a mere 111 from 62.5 overs. Tapas Mandal registered his best figure and picked up 8 wickets while Subham Ghosh picked up 1 wicket.
