The Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress has accused the incumbent BJP government of exacerbating the unemployment crisis in the state, according to a press statement released on Tuesday.
Md. Sahajan Islam, the vice president of Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress, asserted that the present BJP administration has reached an unprecedented peak in unemployment rates.
"Despite this alarming situation, the BJP government, operating with a 'double-engine' approach, remains apathetic. The state's BJP government, known for its empty promises and misleading propaganda, is steering the region towards an era of extreme poverty and darkness. The surge in drug addiction among the youth, coupled with an increase in anti-social activities such as theft and robbery, serves as an ominous indication of the looming crisis," stated the Youth leader.
Expressing frustration over the unemployment issue, Sahajan highlighted that the BJP secured victory in the 2018 elections by pledging to create 50,000 jobs annually.
"The youth of the state, trusting the promises made by the Prime Minister himself, cast their votes in favor of the BJP. However, these promises remain unfulfilled. Over the past six years, the state has seen the creation of less than five thousand jobs. Despite having numerous educated unemployed youths actively seeking employment, opportunities are scarce. Even after passing the Teachers Eligibility Test, many young men and women are left jobless, with years passing by in despair. Consequently, the state is grappling with an alarming level of unemployment," the statement conveyed.
The Youth leader asserted that Tripura's unemployment rate surpasses the national average, underscoring the severity of the issue.
