Woman found Covid positive in OT delivers healthy baby

AGARTALA:

In yet another glaring example of providing health services to the patients despite difficulties, doctors of Kailashahar District hospital have proved once again that health care is still in safe hands.

On Saturday morning Dr. Chiranjib Deb, Dr. Soumendra Debbarma along with other health workers performed a cesarean operation on an expecting mother.

According to sources, when the lady was already in the operation theatre and under anesthesia, doctors came to know that her COVID test report was positive.

However, they risked their lives and performed c-section. It is the first time that a district hospital has successfully done c-section on a COVID patient. Kailashahar District Hospital’s medical superintendent Dr. Soumendra Debbarma said that they were prepared to operate four expecting mothers on Friday morning. However, since the first lady was tested positive and the doctors got exposed to her, they cancelled other operations.

They referred the other three pregnant women to Agartala. He also added that all other operations including cesarean operations would be suspended till Sunday.
