Sports Minister Tinku Roy said that the state government has taken various steps to improve the quality of sports and an initiative has been taken to build a high-quality modern football field in Shantirbazar of South Tripura district.
Atal Smriti Knockout Football Competition-2023 has started from today at the 12th standard school ground in Fatikray. Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy inaugurated the competition.
It may be noted that the Atal Smriti Knockout Football Competition is being held for the last few years under the initiative of Animal Resource Development Department Minister Sudhangshu Das.
Inaugurating the competition, Sports Minister Tinku Roy said that the state government has taken various steps to improve the quality of sports.
“For that purpose many fields have been newly constructed in the state. It also has some synthetic turf football fields. An initiative has been taken to build a high-quality modern football field in Shantirbazar of South Tripura district. The government has also given priority to develop a sense of brotherhood among the youth through sports to get the youth out of addiction”, he said.
ARDD Minister Sudhangshu Das delivered the welcome speech at the opening ceremony.
He said, the main purpose of this football competition is to strengthen unity among people.
Unakoti Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Amalendu Das presided over the opening ceremony.
Kumarghat Panchayat Samiti Chairman Sumati Das, Zilla Parishad Member Neelkanta Sinha, Youth Affairs and Sports Department Director Satyabrata Nath, Kumarghat Block BDO Sudip Bhowmik, former MLA Mabashar Ali and others were present at the inauguration ceremony. 16 teams participated in the competition.
