The Union Minister of State for SJ&E Pratima Bhoumik on Sunday lambasted on the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the rape and murder of junior doctor in R.G Kar Medical College and Hospital and labelled Mamata Banerjee as ‘crime queen’.
Addressing a press conference here at Agartala BJP party headquarter on Sunday, Bhoumik alleged, “Women are not safe under the rule of Mamata Banerjee led government, which is hijacked by the TMC goondas.” She further alleged that crime against women is increasing in Bengal under the rule of TMC.
“After the incident in R.G Kar hospital, Mamata Banerjee has send at least 7000 TMC goondas in the hospital to wipe off all evidences of the rape and murder of innocent junior doctor. Also the government had transferred the Medical Super of the hospital Sandip Ghosh in a better hospital as a gift to him within 4 hours of the incident, whereas a section of doctors who were protesting the incident were transferred to interior part,” Bhoumik alleged, adding that Mamata Banerjee, being a women chief minister and home minister and also the health minister had failed to ensure safety and security for women in West Bengal.
She said, “Mamta Banerjee should immediately resign from her post to ensure safety and security for women in Bengal as she has been working so far as a crime queen in Bengal.”
On the other hand, the BJP state spokesperson person Subrata Chakraborty accused the opposition CPI(M) in Tripura of orchestrating violence that led to the death of one of its workers, Asish Paul on the day of panchayat poll counting on August 12 last.
He alleged, “Asish Paul, a dedicated worker from the Sonamura Mandal in the Sepahijala district, sustained severe head injuries after being allegedly assaulted by CPIM supporters. He was immediately rushed to GBP Hospital, where he battled for his life and succumbed to the grievous injury on August 17 last.”
In response to the incident, senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik called for strict legal action against those responsible. “The attackers used a sharp weapon and inflicted severe injuries on his head, leading to profuse bleeding. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and vow to pursue justice for him,” Bhoumik asserted.
