Two universal utility centres opened at Jatanbari under JICA

AMAPUR:

At least two small and universal utility centres to prepare handicraft and bamboo made items inaugurated at Santipara of Jatanbari beat at Karbook subdivision under JICA Project on June 7.

Senior representative of JICA, Delhi Toru Uemachi from Japan inaugurated the projects which constructed with an expense of Rs. 7.72 Lakh.

Speaking on the occasion Uemachi said, similar kinds of projects are functioning in different states of India in collaboration with Japan.

Observing the projects in Tripura during last three days he expected that youths of the state would be benefited by the project in future. He noticed that many tribal people became self reliant by utilizing the project. At present the children of tribal people are studying at better schools. They have developed their houses.

Observing the lifestyle and professions of tribal people Umachi expressed his happiness. He expected that environment of the world would become pollution free and would be able to reduce the affect of global worming through bamboo cultivation and aforestation.

He added that aforestation is not only helpful for earning but also beneficial to hold the level of water.

During speech PCCF and CEO G. S. Raju said, JICA, Tripura Project started here from 2007- 08 and it will continue till 2017-18. He said, 423 JFMC, 1545 SHGs, 25000 Check Dams, Agro forestry and 64000 hectare plantations completed under the project till now. Besides permanents assets including 54 mini CCFC, 457 JFMC buildings and 65 office buildings constructed. The Japanese delegates talked with local people during visit.

At first they visited Lebacherra JFMC, Rambhadra JFMC, Khuripara JFMC. Then they went the JFMCs at Indo Bangla Border area and visited the projects including agro forestry, Check dam, mixed aforestation, creation of drinking water sources, brooms prepared from Ful Jharu. The tribal women of hilly areas welcomed the delegates. They also expressed happiness by observing the works of members of projects.

Among others MLA Parimal Debnath, Programme Specialist of JICA, India M.S. Yukari Inagaki, Shakti Kanti Singh , IFS, DFO and CPO Gomati, SDFO of Karbook Subdivision S. Soorya Narayan, IFS were present among the distinguished guests. Ramani Chakma presided over the programme. It is expected that 40 women belong to different paras will become self reliant from the two centres.
