In a shocking incident at Tarani Nagar Malakar Para in Kanchan Bari, Fatikrai (Dhalai District), two youths were arrested for brutally killing four monkeys and a monitor lizard.
According to officials, outraged local residents initially tried to capture the accused and reportedly attempted to force them into sacks. However, some vigilant and compassionate members of the community intervened, preventing any mob violence and ensuring that the accused were handed over safely to the authorities.
Police said that two other individuals involved in the crime managed to flee and are currently absconding.
The arrested youths were later handed over to the Forest Department for further legal proceedings. Forest officials confirmed that a case has been registered against them under relevant sections of the Wildlife Protection Act. A manhunt is underway to track down the absconding suspects.
