TSR camp attacked after death of youth by road mishap

Tensed people attacked TSR Camp when the driver and labourers of brick loaded lorry rushed in the camp for shelter after the death of youth by a bike accident on being dashed by the lorry at Champhawar today. At last TSR jawans bound to lathi charge to disperse the violence of unruly mob. Later battalion of Assam Rifles called to control the situation.

Sources said that a brick loaded tripper truck (TR01-N-1669) was coming from Tulashikhar to Khowai at about 8:15 a.m. today. On the other side a youth named Takhirai Debbarma (28) was going from Khowai to Tulashikhar. Unfortunately the bike and the lorry collided face to face on the road near Goltila School under Champhawar Police Station area.

As a result bike rider Takhirai Debbarma died on the spot. All of a sudden a mob of more than 100 people attacked the lorry and started to beat the driver and labourers. In such a situation the driver and three labourers rushed to the nearby TSR camp to save their life. Immediately a group of unruly youths attacked the TSR camp. They demanded to hand over the driver and three labourers to them. They attacked the camp as TSR refused to release the persons.

At that time SP and SDPO were present in the camp. At last police bound to lathi charge on failing to check the unruly mob of youths.

Meanwhile jawans of Assam Rifles rushed to the spot and started lathi charge to save the TSR camp. However the unruly mob recedes from attack after lathi charge by Assam Rifles jawans. In the meantime police arrested injured lorry driver Goutam Deb and three labourers Asish Gour, Arachan Munda and Batua Munda were shifted to G.B. Hospital in seriously injured condition. Police sources said that tension is prevailing at the area after the incident. Although the situation is under control now.
