Tripura to celebrate the traditional ‘Kali Puja‘ performing the rituals on the eve of Diwali – the festival of light at the state’s 500-year-old Tripura Sundari temple on November 14 and 15. A special prayer of ‘Mangal Aarti’ shall be performed as per the ritual at the temple’s Kalyansagar Lake, said Gomati District Magistrate (DM) Dr. T K Debnath.
The DM told the media, “Due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year there will be certain restrictions to be imposed during the 2 days long of the festival at Tripura Sundari temple premise.”
“A very minimum number of devotees shall be allowed to enter the premise of the temple to perform puja only after screening and thermal testing with mandatory wearing of face masks,” adding to this the DM said, “Diwali festival in Tripureswari temple would be only a ritual as there will be no cultural programme or fair or exhibition on the development works due to Covid-19 pandemic.”
He also said that fine shall be imposed as per the law against the violators of COVID-19 norms and guidelines.
Meanwhile, he said that to facilitate the people of this state who usually gather at the temple on the eve of Diwali, the Kali Puja and performance of rituals in the temple shall be aired in TV Channels. Besides, two giant size LED screens would be installed at Ramesh Chowmuhani and Jamtala enabling the devotees to witness puja and prayers.
However, as part of precautionary measures and security surveillance watch towers and CCTV cameras shall be installed in the temple premise to restrict untoward incidents.
