The electoral process for the initial phase in the West Parliamentary Constituency of Tripura commenced at 7 AM, bolstered by stringent security measures. By 3 PM, the voter turnout stood at 68.11%.
According to reports from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, there were some instances of EVM malfunctioning in certain polling stations during the early hours. However, these issues were promptly addressed.
"The election proceedings, commencing at 7 AM, encountered EVM malfunctions, promptly resolved. Fortunately, no instances of violence have been reported thus far. The voter turnout stood at 15.9% by 9 AM and surged to 68.11% by 3 PM," stated the source.
In the West Parliamentary Constituency of Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb from the BJP will face off against Asish Kumar Saha, representing the INDI Bloc and serving as the Tripura Congress president.
This constituency comprises 30 assembly segments, distributed across 14 in West, 9 in Sepahijala, 4 in Gomati, and 3 in South District. A total of 14,61,836 electorates are eligible to cast their votes, comprising 7,33,645 male voters, 7,28,315 female voters, and 58 transgender voters.
