Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday inaugurated the first ever three days long Bipul Charu and Karu Kala Utssav – Arts and Crafts festival here in Agartala Government College of Art and Craft. The festival was named after the pioneer of modern sculpture in the state Bipul Kanti Saha.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the meritorious children of the state who have taken the name of the state to the pinnacle of fame should not be forgotten. The present government is trying to give these personalities the respect they deserve.
“Even if they are lost in the course of time, their actions, thoughts and thoughts can greatly inspire the next generation in the development of art and culture of the state. Although various forms of art were practiced in the royal family of Tripura state, they were out of the reach of the public,” Dr Saha said.
Explaining the significance of the event, Dr Saha said that Bipul Kanti Saha was the pioneer of modern sculpture in the state. He is one of the talented children of this state. As a result of his hard work and dedication, the sculpture and art of Tripura has been recognized globally. He said that apart from technology, the way the renowned personalities of the state have created their art, culture is in one word unimaginable. A sense of self-satisfaction can be felt by honoring such personalities, he added.
The three days long festival will feature a sit-down drawing competition, cultural programs and panel discussions with eminent personalities from the art world of the state. Exhibition stalls are opened by 10 different organizations including Lalit Kala Academy, Fine Arts, Govt Arts and Crafts College. The festival will last till April 7 next.
