Tripura government is preparing to build a power hub in the state by increasing power generation in Suryamaninagar sub-station, while the government is planning to export more power to the neighbouring country of Bangladesh, said state power minister Ratan Lal Nath on Wednesday.
During his inspection at 132 KV power sub-station at Agartala Suryamaninagar on Wednesday morning, the minister said, “We are mulling to increase power generation in Suryamaninagar by upgrading the sub-station from 132KV to at least 400 KV, which would be the North East’s first such power sub-station. The Central government has recently approved our proposal to establish the North East’s first 400 KV Power station here.”
“There is a plan to merge the power stations including Palatana, Rukia, Baramura and others with the Suryamaninagar sub-station. Moreover, a survey report suggested that there is a need of at least 709 MW of power by 2030-31, so we are moving ahead accordingly,” he said, adding that we have a target to generate 909 MW of power, so that we can export at least 200 MW of power to Bangladesh from Suryamaninagar.
Presently Bangladesh has been grappling with a shortage of at least 1200 to 1400 MW of power in their country, he told reporters.
