The Tripura government has begun supply of mustard oil through the Public Distribution System (PDS) at subsidized rates in the ration shops across the state.
The state food and civil supplies minister Sushanta Chowdhury visited some of the ration shops here at Agartala on Friday and handed over the high-quality cooking mustard oil with the beneficiaries.
During the launching and distribution event, the minister castigated the opposition CPI-M and then Left front government and alleged that the oppositions are always in fray to mislead the people of the state. The statement has come up in view of the opposition’s allegation of irregularities in PDS.
He accused the CPI-M of being not helpful to the developmental progress of the state and said that unlike the previous government the BJP led coalition government took a significant decision of distributing mustard oil at subsidized rate through PDS.
He emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding consumer interests and ensuring the provision of essential commodities at reasonable prices in ration shops.
