BSF's Additional Director General (ADG), Eastern Command Ravi Gandhi, visited Border Outpost (BOP), Khantalang and BOP Pushparampara, the first all-women Prahari post in Tripura, officials said.
A Border Security Force (BSF) spokesman during the visit, the ADG reviewed the operational preparedness of the outposts and interacted with the Mahila Praharis, including Post Commander (Sub-Inspector rank-woman) Sanju Ghasal.
He commended the women personnel for their dedication, professionalism, and resilience in managing security operations in one of the toughest terrains along the India-Bangladesh border.
Inspector General (IG) of BSF, Tripura Frontier, Ashwani Kumar Sharma and Deputy Inspector General Rajeev Vatsraj and other senior BSF officers accompanied the ADG.
This visit underscores BSF’s commitment to empowering women in border security and recognising their vital role in safeguarding the nation, the spokesman said.
During his three-day tour to Tripura, Gandhi arrived in Tripura on Monday, separately met Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha and Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan and discussed the India-Bangladesh border-related issues.
He also paid homage to the brave martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
The ADG was briefed by the frontier IG on operational preparedness and key strategic matters.
As part of his itinerary, ADG Gandhi visited a number of border deployed units to assess the ground situation and interact with field commanders and jawans.
The spokesman said that the paramilitary troops have enhanced vigil and intensified their domination along the International Border since the violence in Bangladesh began in June-July last year, especially after the fall of the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government on August 5, 2024.
Meanwhile, BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary last week visited Mizoram and southern Assam for three days and conducted a comprehensive review of the operational scenario, assessed the force’s preparedness and strength for border domination efforts.
According to the spokesman, the BSF chief visited border outpost (BOP) Steamer Ghat in Shri Bhumi district (formerly Karimganj district) on the Bangladesh border where he interacted with troopers and received an operational briefing from the unit Commandant and reviewed border domination efforts.
