Kanchanpur police today arrested two police constables and a TSR jawan and recovered huge quantity of drugs from their possession.
They had been arrested from the central nursery of the forest department.
Officer in charge of Kanchanpur police station Paritosh Das said that acting on a tip-off he along with his team under the leadership of SDPO (Kanchanpur) Bikramjit Shukladas had launched an operation and arrested the trio.
“Around 1:00 pm we caught the trio red-handed and seized the entire consignment being carried by them comprising huge quantity of contraband heroin tablets and other addictive drugs like yaba. All three drug peddlers identified as police constables Dilip Chakma and Narottam Chakma and TSR jawan Sanjib Chakma. They are currently under interrogation and will be duly produced in court tomorrow” The SDPO (Kanchanpur) Bikramjit Shukladas said.
Some sources said that one of the trio are engaged with the security guard of minister Santana Chakma though official confirmation was still to be get.
