Tension sparked at Betaga after attack by teacher on BJP meeting

Tension gripped at Betaga after the incident of attack by a teacher in drunken condition at executive meeting of BJP. However police arrested the accused teacher later on.

Sources said that executive meeting of BJP organized at the house of Manoranjan Tripura at Sadhupara under booth no 17 and 18 at about 3 p.m. today. All of a sudden a teacher Priyahari Tripura attacked the executive members with lathi and knife during meeting in drunken condition.

As a result Samir Debnath, Sajal Tripura, Wiga Mog and Naindya Mog injured by the attack. On being informed SI Swapan Debbarma rushed to the spot with police staffs. Later police arrested accused attacker teacher Priyahari Tripura.

Meanwhile some leaders of BJP expressed strong resentment as police reached late after occurrence of the incident. Some of them used abusive language against police. As a result police lathi charged on them. BJP leader Priyatosh Tripura injured in the incident.

Polling begins for Tripura East LS constituency

Election officials said that around 14 lakh electorate, including 6.94 lakh female voters, are eligible to cast their votes in 1,664 polling stations in different districts of the state to decide the fate of nine candidates in the politically crucial parliamentary seat.
