A 30,000 gallon source of drinking water reservoir has been inaugurated today at Belianchip village of Jampui Block under Innovative Drinking Water Supply Scheme of Central Government today.
Health, Family Welfare, PWD and Water Resource minister Sudip Roy Barman inaugurated project in presence of SW & SE minister Santana Chakma who attended the programme chief guest. Among others MLA of Karamcherra D.C. Hrangkhawl, MLA of Pabiacherra Bhagaban Das and SDM of Kanchanpur Abhedananda were attended the programme.
An amount of Rs. 2.57 crore spent to complete the project. The construction of the project started in November, 2016 and ended in October, 2018. Altogether 1200 families will get supply of drinking water from the reservoir.
It is the largest reservoir at the area in the recent time although two reservoirs started functioning here earlier. As a result drinking water will reach all over Belianchip village through pipeline and the villagers will get rid of water crisis.
The drinking water supplied from two fountains of hill through pipe line from 175 meter lower portion of hill.
Speaking on the occasion PWD and Water Resource minister Sudip Roy Barman said that the works of the project started in 2016 but the work discontinued due to unknown reason. The new government took initiative to complete the project at the earliest considering the suffering of people at hilly areas. The government will take initiative to construct more such project in days to come, he added.
