Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury today said Union Railway Ministry has decided to run another DEMU train on Agartala-Sabroom rail route.
Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said addressing a press conference today said that earlier 3 demo trains were running on this route.
“Considering the increase in the number of passengers, their needs and facilities, a letter was recently sent to the Union Railway Minister requesting to increase the number of DEMU trains on this route. It is in this context that the Union Ministry of Railways decided to run another DEMU train immediately for the convenience of the people of the state”, he said.
The Transport Minister thanked the Union Railway Minister for this decision of the Union Ministry of Railways in the interest of the people of the state.
In the press conference, Transport Minister also said that the Union Finance Ministry has declared the state's Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport as a customs check post. A gadget notification has also been released accordingly.
“This announcement by the Union Finance Ministry is a positive step in launching the Agartala-Chittagong international air link. If the MBB airport comes under the immigration check post in the coming days, the air traffic on the Agartala-Chittagong route will start soon”, he said.
