Khelo India and Tripura School Sports Board have jointly organized a state-based chess competition in Kailashahar. Parents share their problems about various mismanagement and disciplinary errors centered on this state meet.
The competition was held between boys and girls under 14 and 18. The district based competition was completed on 26th January and the state based competition was held on 26th and 29th in Kailashahar. On January 28, 15 more coaches and officials, including about 82 players from all the districts, arrived. The parents were outraged that the players were delayed in getting food that night.
When they finished their dinner at 9.30pm and then they were prepared for sleep, they were forced to play. They were not given thermal tests on time.
Once the parents got excited, local MLA Mobaswar Ali rushed there and handled the situation. On the closing day of January 29, the Sports Department could not announce the results due to the lack of internet in front of the winners.
However, District Sports Officer Amit Yadav said that everything had to be done with a budget of only Rs. 13,000 and the entire event was organized in an orderly manner. Anabil Goswami of Kailashahar and Moon Chakraborty, a student of Bhagini Nivedita Girls' School, became the first in the under-17 category.
