Sports can keep safe youths from drug addictions: CM

AGARTALA:

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Sunday said that the playgrounds and sports activities are one of the means to keep safe the youths from drug addictions. Deb stated this while inaugurating the Sonamura Premier league on Sunday.

"The task of building a drug-free Tripura will be easier if the youth community can be more involved in sports. To this end, various plans have been taken to build stadiums and build improved sports infrastructure in each district of the state," Deb said.

He said that the government is committed to curb the use of illicit drugs and HIV infection. The state government is working with an uncompromising attitude against drugs, he said.

He said, "There is no place for drug trafficking and illicit drugs in the land of Tripura. The matter will not be indulged in any way. On the one hand, the future of the youth community is ruined due to drug addiction; on the other hand, HIV is transmitted through various forms of drug abuse."

The Chief Minister said development is being reflected everywhere from the city to the marginal areas. In addition to the highway, each village is being connected to other roads including paver blocks. The once-neglected North East has found a new direction of development with the sincerity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said.
