After a gap of long 13 years dreams came true for Birendra Club as they made their way to the final of the ongoing Second division league football tournament organized by Tripura football association. In the first match of the super knout stage of the tournament today Birendra Club defeated Town Club by a minimum margin of 1-0 and with this win Birendra Club moved the final with ease. While Town will get another chance to make a place in the final when they will face against the winner between Ramkrishna and Kalyan Samiti.
In the match today Town club played with lots of dominance but eventually lost the match due to two reasons. First of all Birendra Club goal keeper Sashan Kumar Jamatia was just outstanding in front of the goal post as today he saved some brilliant shots from Town players and thus made a huge difference between the two sides. On the other hand due to wrong decision by linesman Aditya Debbarma Town has been deferred from a certain penalty as this was came just before the end of the match. But still Birendra played well in the match.
Before the start of the match heavy shower once again spoiled the condition of the field as from the start players from both the teams faced some huge problems. On the other hand from the start Birendra played with 5 defense players and thus stopped the speed of Town club. In the 33rdminute Birendra draw the first blood when Swarna Kumar Jamatia scored the goal with s superb header. Banbir Koloi made a vital role behind this goal as Birendra club advanced by 1-0. In the 44th minute Birendra Sadhan’s shot touched the goal post.
In the second half Town club players came out with positive and aggressive intent as from the start they started to play attacking football but on the other hand Birendra defense was also outstanding including goal keeper Sashan. In the 87th minute Paritosh has been fouled by Birendra player and without any hesitation referee signaled a penalty in favour of Town club. Suddenly linesman Aditya Debbarma signaled it as off side and chaos started. Referee Shibjyoti revered his decision as Town club failed to get a certain goal. In the end Birendra Club won the match by 1-0 and thus cemented their place in the final of the tournament.
