An awareness rally organized at Sabroom Motorstand today on the occasion of 29th Road Safety Week. MLA Sankar Roy inaugurated the programme in presence of SDM Biplab Das, special guest DC Uttam Das Baishnab, SDMO Pritam Das and DTO Prabir Sarkar.
Speaking on the occasion Sankar Roy said, “The drivers drive cars to earn their livelihood. But life of drivers and passengers become risky due to little bit of negligence.” So he requested the drivers to drive car with care and responsibility.
District Transport Officer Prabir Sarkar delivered the welcome address. The programme ended with quiz competition for motor drivers and offering prize to good driver Srikanta Banik, good passenger Basu Debnath and good driver of small car Bimal Debnath.
Our correspondent from Khowai added that keeping parity with entire state Road Safety Week observed at Khowai Town Hall yesterday. MLA Pinaki Das Choudhury inaugurated the programme by lighting lamp.
Among others MLA Prasanta Debbarma, Social worker Manoj Das, Subrata Majumder and Samir Das were present as guests. Besides, Officer of Transport department Takhirai Debbarma and DSP Traffic Ranga Dulal Debbarma were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion MLA Prasanta Das Choudhury stressed on careful driving for safety of driver and passengers. During speech Manoj Das alerted the drivers not to use mobile phone when steering is in their hand and to obey traffic rules properly.
Transport Officer Takhirai Debbarma advised the drivers to drive car along with all necessary documents and to come on road after checking all documents. Besides, DSP Traffic Ranga Dulal Debbarma discussed elaborately about traffic rules. District convener of BMS Manik Sutradhar presided over the meeting.
