Rajib slams Congress and CPI(M), calls for atonement over alliance

AGARTALA:

BJP State President Rajib Bhattacharya launched scathing criticisms against the Congress and CPI(M), demanding that they atone for what he termed an "unholy alliance" and present their apologies to the public.

Bhattacharya accused the Congress of having divisive intentions, alleging that their sole aim is to fracture the unity of the nation and its people. He asserted that the policies governing the Congress party reflect this divisive agenda, leading numerous Congress leaders to defect to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in pursuit of a more principled political stance.

Taking a jab at the internal workings of the Congress party, Bhattacharya claimed that there is a lack of evaluation of workers within the Congress, with leaders prioritizing personal interests over party loyalty. He highlighted instances where leaders switched back and forth between parties, suggesting a lack of reliability and character among certain members. Bhattacharya emphasized that such tendencies have led the Congress to suffer significant losses, notably dwindling to single digits in the last assembly elections.

Bhattacharya didn't spare the CPI(M) either, specifically targeting former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar for allegedly deviating from his political principles by advocating for a Congress candidate. He labeled this move as "unfortunate" and indicative of the current political climate.

The BJP State President further pointed out a decline in political violence since 2018, contrasting it with the Communist regime's era where he claimed several BJP workers were killed, including Minister Bimal Sinha, MLA Parimal Saha, and MLA Madhusudan Saha. He attributed these killings to what he described as the "Communists' murderous forces."

Accompanying Bhattacharya at the press conference were Minister Pranajit Singh Roy, state BJP spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty, and other party members.

The press conference underscored the BJP's firm stance against the Congress and CPI(M), urging them to acknowledge their alleged wrongdoing and seek redemption in the eyes of the public.
