Fatikray Ground Star today lifted the Prize Money football tournament as in the final match they defeated Gokulnagar Play Centre in the tie breaker by 6(2)-3(2). Fatikray won the title for consecutive two years as at Fatikray School field today around 10000 people gathered to witness this epic encounter and they will remember it for long.
Though it was the final match between the two teams of Fatikray but both the teams have played with bulk of players from Mizoram. In the match today foreign player Alex who played for Fatikray, made the difference between these two sides as in the stipulated time Alex scored both the goals and the football lovers will remember them for long.
In the 7th minute of the match Gokulnagar CC scored the opening goal as Narba Lal Fakma scored the opener. But in the 24th minute Fatikray succeeded to score the equalizer as Alex scored the goal with a superb header. The first half of the match ended up with the scoreline of 1-1 as from the start of the second half, both the teams played with speed.
In the 46th minute Alex scored the second goal for Fatikray while 9 minutes later Birnarayan Jamatia scored the equalizer for Gokulnagar from the corner kick of Pranab Sarkar. The stipulated time ended with 2-2 as the match headed towards penalty where B Thara, Tulunga, Juyaiya, Saima scored for Fatikray and Tuka scored the only goal for Gokulnagar.
Fatikray goal keeper Mama saved two brilliant shots as in the end Fatikray Ground star won the final by 6-3. Mama got the footballer of the final award while Alex has been adjusted as the player of the match while Manojit Singh Barua has been declared as the footballer of the tournament.
At the end of the match the prize distribution ceremony has been held where Sports Minister Sahid Choudhury, MLA Tunubala Malakar and Samiran Majumder remained present. Champion Fatikray Ground Star has been awarded with Rs 50,000 along with trophy while Runner up Gokulnagar Play centre got Rs 25,000 along with trophy.
