Ahead of the forthcoming by-elections in 20-Boxanagar and 23-Dhanpur assembly constituencies of Sonamura sub-division, a preparatory meeting was convened at the Sonamura new town hall today. The meeting was presided over by the State Chief Electoral Officer Punit Agarwal, aiming to ensure a smooth electoral process.
Various key officials attended the meeting, including Sepahijala District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, Additional District Magistrate Jayanta Dey, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Sonamura sub-division Manik Lal Das. Additionally, officials from the District and Sub-Division level security departments, Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) of both constituencies, Nodal Officers, Sector Officers, and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were present to discuss the election preparations.
During the meeting, Chief Electoral Officer Punit Agarwal emphasized the importance of conducting free, fair, and peaceful by-elections in the region. He encouraged all stakeholders to uphold the democratic values and ensure a level playing field for all candidates.
As part of the preparation, discussions were held regarding the facilities and arrangements at polling stations within the 20-Boxanagar and 23-Dhanpur assembly constituencies. Ensuring smooth voting processes and access to basic amenities for voters were among the key points addressed.
