The preparation of re-poll is going on at Khamartila which became tensed by political intimidation. By-poll of Panchayat held on September 30 at Laxminarayan Gram Panchayat of Khowai. The situation became violent here on the day of by-poll.
Polling went on the verge suspension when vote caste reached at half position. IPFT workers alleged that BJP workers involved in rigging by capturing booth. With this allegation IPFT boycotted voting up to 2 p.m. At the same time IPFT raised demand of re-poll at 3/4 seat of ward no-2 under Laxminarayan Gram Panchayat.
After reviewing the entire process Returning Officer sent proposal of repoll to commission through DM. Sources said that probable date of re-poll is on October 5.
Meanwhile administration is preparing to conduct re-poll. At the same time IPFT gave an announcement of political violence from October 2. Local people alleged that administration has not taken any action to check violence except increase of police patrolling.
Meanwhile people of non-tribal section are apprehending that black days of 1997 to 2000 are coming back. The women of the locality raised question whether their fate sends them to refugee camp. Sources said that resentment prevailing among the local people against the local MLA and BJP leadership.
