Acting on secret information a large contingent of police led by SP of North Bhanupada Chakraborty recovered huge quantity of Brown Sugar and Yaba tablet from Tripura Assam border in front of Churaibari Police Station today.
Sources said that the huge contingent of police and intelligence were sitting secretly on NH-44 at the premises of Churaibari Police Station. At a time a luxurious car (TR01BB/0771) reached there. Immediately police stopped the car and arrested four smugglers including Sankar Sarkar(37) of Amtali, Sujit Das (28) of Shilchar, Liton Ghosh (46) of Ranirbazar and Saikat Dutta of Srinagar, Sabroom. Later police recovered Rs. 14,735, five Android Mobile, huge amount of Brown sugar and Yaba tablet from the youths. Police arrested the youths and seized the car.
During interrogation Sankar Sarkar said that they were carrying the drugs from Shilchar and they were taking those to Amtali in Agartala. His younger brother Suman Sarkar is the owner of the car.
Police sources said that they recovered 12,000 Yaba tablets and 36 gm Brown sugar from the car today. The items were hidden at gear box of the car. According to police the market value of the item is Rs. 70 lakh.
Meanwhile SP Bhanupada Chakraborty said that police recovered more than Rs. 21 lakh and huge gold ornaments by seizing a Bolero car at Ambassa today. Police arrested three persons from the car. During interrogation the youths said that another car would enter in the state with huge drugs today.
