Death of a bison today raised many question about the security of animals in Trishna Sanctuary. Meanwhile local people demanded befitting punishment of killer of the bison after proper investigation.
Talking to media Forest Officer Sanjib Das said that he rushed to Chila Pathar area of Trishna Sanctuary on being informed about the death. The bison died within five minutes of arrival of veterinary surgeon. The age of the bison was 10 to 11 years at the time of death. However the body of the bison has been buried under the soil after proper investigation.
Local sources said that Ranger of Trishna Sanctuary never went to night patrolling after getting charge of the sanctuary and he has no information about the wild animals. At the same time Ranger allegedly does not follow any instruction of higher authority. Although, none succeeded to provide proper reason about death of the bison.
Meanwhile SDFO of Trishna Sanctuary said, “The bison died due to completion of its life time. However, proper reason behind the death will be revealed after getting post mortem report.
It is worthy to mention here that Bison is a rare animal of Asia continent and government spent lakhs of rupees to preserve the animal at Trishna Sanctuary. According to information of Forest Department 130 to 140 bisons are available at Trishna at present. Many tourists from country and abroad gather here every year to see the animal.
