November Revolution: CPM hits street with a bang in Kailashahar

Keeping parity with the previous years, the opposition CPIM observed and recalled November revolution, one of the greatest achievements of communist history. Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar addressed a hall convention at Agartala Town Hall.

The former Chief Minister criticized the ruling establishment for being anti-proletariat. He highlighted on various issues and referred the world history in order to justify the war against capitalism to be a right of working class and present context of the mass movement against divisive powers.      

After a gap of more than two years, red flags in large numbers soared high in Kailashahar on Saturday. “For the first time since last Assembly Polls in 2018, activists of all the frontal organizations of CPM walked down Kailashahar and raised slogans in support of 12-point demands. 

Local sources said, CPM held the rally observing the ‘November Revolution’ today. Activists of students’ wing, Youth, labourers and farmers’ wings of CPM attended the rally. Former Minister cum incumbent MLA Tapan Chakraborty, CPM Unakoti District committee secretary Krishnendu Choudhury and other leaders were present in the rally.

In the rally, CPM supporters raised slogans in support of 12-point charter of demands. Among other demands, they highlighted demand for fixing 200 man-days under MNREGA and TUEP schemes. Withdrawal of Agri bills and Labour Act, exemplary punishment for committing crimes against woman etc. were also part of the 12-point demand list.

After the rally, a public meeting was held in which CPM leaders slammed the State and Central Government. They alleged the State and Central Governments have failed to fulfill its pre-poll promises.

Terming today’s rally as a ‘Maha Michil’ Krishnendu Choudhury said, CPM is holding agitations across the State protesting against ‘anti-people’ policies of the Central Government and failures of the State Government. He strongly demanded increase in man-days under MNREGA and TUEP so that common people can overcome the ongoing hardships. 

Former Minister Tapan Chakraborty also spoke on the occasion. He discussed prevailing situation in the State and criticized the role of the State Government. Chakraborty also referred to Agri bills and Labour Act and demanded that the Central Government should roll back these laws immediately for the sake of common people. 

Presence of huge crowd, especially gathering of students and youths is noticeable. The vibrant rally clearly indicates growing frustration with the ruling party, party sources claimed.
