The pump house constructed for irrigation at Pechardahar village of Kailashahar subdivision is on the verge of collapse of Manu river. Meanwhile local people on the bank of Manu river are suffering from different diseases due to lack of pure drinking water.
The house of MLA Sudhangsu Das of Fatikroy constituency is at ward no-1 of Bilashpur Panchayat. Meanwhile local people are expecting that newly elected MLA will take initiative to solve the long pending problem.
Bilashpur Panchayat was occupied by CPI-M during last 20 years. But the problem of drinking water has not been solved at ward no-1 and 2. The one and only source of irrigation is situated on the bank of the river for long time. The Water Resource Department has not felt any necessity of repairing the source.
The public representatives had no headache to repair the source. Meanwhile, landslide occurred at east side wall of the pump house in the recent flood. Local people are apprehending that the pump house along with pump machine could sink deep into the river water if flood occurs once again.
The leftist public representatives had no initiative to repair the pump house. Now the local people are expecting that the MLAs of present ruling party would take initiative to shift the pump house as well as make arrangement of storing and supplying drinking water.
Meanwhile large portion of fertile land of people went under depth of Manu river due to erosion of embankment. Erosion is still going on at West bank of the river. Local people have urged to take effective step to stop erosion immediately.
