Abdul Sattar, a prominent journalist in the state and a member of the Sonamura Press Club, passed away at his residence in Sonamura today at around 8:20 am. He had been battling an illness for one and a half years. At the time of his demise, he was 47 years old.
Abdul Sattar embarked on his journalism career in 2006 as a Journalist for the Dainik Sambad newspaper. Over the course of 16 years, he established a reputable presence in the field until his health declined. Throughout his career, Abdul Sattar's writings were known for shedding light on the struggles of marginalized individuals on the fringes of society. He leaves behind a grieving family, including his wife, two sons (aged 11 years and 1 year), four brothers, one sister and a host of relatives and friends.
Following his passing, his body was taken to his ancestral home in Durgapur village. The Sonamura Press Club community including the editor Abhijit Bardhan and president Biplab Chakraborty along with fellow journalists gathered to pay their final respects.
The Press Club extended its condolences to Abdul Sattar's wife Nasreen Akhtar Liza and his family. Abdul Sattar was laid to rest beside his parents in accordance with Islamic traditions at the family burial ground in Durgapur village at 5 pm. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha condoled the demise of the journalist and also Union Minister of State Pratima Bhoumik condoled and paid a visit to his house.
