Inter-district movement stopped in Gomati district

AGARTALA:

The Gomati district administration—the place where the first of COVID 19 case has been reported, had resolved to suspend all inter-district movement for the time being in view of the panic situation sparked due to the positive case. In an order undersigned by additional district magistrate Gomati Dr. Vishal Kumar, the administration decided not to allow any vehicle leave the boundary of the district without due permission of the district magistrate.  

“It has been observed that even after many advisory issues by Government of India and State Government, many employees under your establishment are making daily journey to other districts in particular to Agartala” the order reads.  

“It is compulsory for all people engage in providing essential service and commodity to remain in station. No person or vehicle is allowed to leave the district boundary without due permission from District Magistrate & Collector. The Government of Tripura in a notification has already declared certain services as essential for securing the public safety, the maintenance of public order, health or sanitation and for the life of the community”, the order further stated.  

Sources said, all the head of the departments had been already served the copies of the order and there would be no such movement from now on and it may invoke legal proceedings if found violating.

 “All Head of the district has to give undertaking that none of their staffs are leaving the district boundaries by 15.04.2020. In case of non-compliance of order, Head of Offices will be personally liable for the legal action. If any person commute without valid permission from District Magistrate & Collector Office, Gomati District, the person and vehicle will immediately detain and booked under appropriate clause”, the order further added.  

The District Magistrate had also urged the police department to ensure implementation of the orders.  

“The Superintendent of Police, Gomati is requested to ensure the compliance of the Order and restrict all inter-district movement of such employee. Your cooperation to stop the COVID-19 spread in the society is highly appreciable”, the order concludes.
