Acting on a tip-off district magistrate of Gomati District caught a retired doctor red handed while conducting illegal abortions at his private chamber on Sunday.
The doctor identified as Dr. Bishnu Chandra Dey used to run his own private clinic at Udiapur opposite to Kiran Petroleum Agency and at the back side of UBI at about 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Dr. Dey was busy with some his clients who went there for abortion of some women at his chamber. At that time DM T. K. Debnath and team reached there and caught him red handed.
Local sources alleged that Dr. Dey had been practicing this illicit business since long. Observing the illegal activities, DM informed the Subdivision Medical Officer.
Later a lady doctor came to the spot and shifted the women to hospital for treatment who was laying at the chamber in senseless condition. An inquiry against the doctor had been initiated. The administration would take legal action against the accused Doctor very shortly, highly placed sources said.
