Husband killed, wife arrested

AGARTALA:

A treacherous trap of illicit relationship claimed a precious life at Bislagarh’s Gokul Nagar Bhowmik para as a husband has been purportedly strangled to death by his wife.

The accused identified as Anamika Sharma was nabbed by police on charges of plotting the crime and also killing her husband, police said on Wednesday.

Local sources said, there was nothing good between Anamika and the deceased husband Dipankar Bhowmik. Some of the locals including the family members of the deceased also alleged that Anamika was involved in some illicit relationship with someone else. Due to that severe quarrels broke out among Dipankar and Anamika.

Mother of the deceased said, “a couple of times my daughter-in-law beat my son mercilessly. She always refuses to abide by him and sometimes he has been left grievously injured”.

Parents of Dipankar also alleged that in-laws of Dipankar were also involved in plotting the entire crime.

However, in reference to the incident, police said, “on Tuesday night, family members of Dipankar spotted him unconscious lying on the bed having strangulation marks around his neck. When they cannot make him awake, he has been taken to Hapania and the on-duty doctors declared him brought dead”.

Anamika in his statement refused the allegations and said, “after she reached their bed room, she found that a towel was tied surrounding his neck. Soon, I untied it and then my in-laws brought him to the hospital. I have no idea as to how he had died”.

However, the police have arrested Anamika Sharma and started a probe.
