The devastating flood of Kailashahar came as blessing for some ruling party supporter contractors. Meanwhile works of Rs. 8 crore completed for repair and maintenance of embankment of Manu river.
The work order of more than Rs. 1 crore had been issued to some inexperienced leaders without tender. In the meantime a team led by Joint Secretary level officer was visited the damaged area of the embankment. Although, the report of the team has not yet submitted.
The devastating flood affected Kailashahar subdivision on June 13. The embankment of Manu river was about to collapse at Gobindapur area. At that time the local people took initiative to prevent the damage on embankment in war footing. Later TSR jawans joined hand. Bricks and bolder packed in iron net were kept at place of damage. The government allotted Rs. 1 crore for emergency work. At that time some false bills were also submitted.
At present the leaders of ruling BJP –IPFT coalition became guardians of construction departments. Meanwhile bolder also placed at the crack of embankment of Manu near cremation ground. Besides, C.C. Blocks constructed by bricks and cement are being kept to repair the embankment. But there is none to supervise the quality of blocks.
Meanwhile people are expressing different opinions suspecting whether the blocks would be able to prevent damage in embankment. At present the contractors of ruling party are busy in business of earning more. As a result they have no concern of quality, rules and regulation. It is suspected that they would surpass the record of Leftist period.
