Gujarat, which is witnessing almost 30 deaths every day due to Covid-19 since the last 15 days, on Monday saw its total toll cross the 1,500-mark to reach 1,506, while the almost 500 cases daily since the month's beginning, took its case tally to 24,104.
A total of 514 new cases were detected from the 4,344 RT-PCR tests carried out across the state on Monday.
Though the number of positive cases being detected from the state's worst-hit Ahmedabad are gradually coming down, the state's cases are still spiralling with 7,310 positive cases have been detected so far this this month, at an average of 488 cases daily.
Out of the 514 cases detected on Monday, 327 were in Ahmedabad. Surat was a distant second at 64, followed by Vadodara with 44, Gandhinagar with 15, Jamnagar, Bharuch and Rajkot with eight each, Panchmahals with seven, Sabarkantha and Junagadh with four each, Patan and Surendranagar with three each, Bhavnagar, Mahesana, Valsad and Amreli with two each, Banaskantha, Anand, Kutch, Kheda, Navsari, Botad, Narmada, and Amreli with one case each. There was a patient from outside the state too.
Monday saw yet another 28 patients succumbing to the dreadful virus, out of which Ahmedabad accounted for 23. Four patients from Surat and one patient from Aravalli also died.
Despite the share of Corona positive cases from Ahmedabad having come down to 70.39 per cent, the death toll rate of the city remained the same, around 81 per cent of the total toll. A total of 465 people have succumbed there during the first fifteen days of June.
Till date, 1,213 people have died in Ahmedabad alone, trailed distantly by Surat with by 104, and Vadodara with 45. There have been 21 deaths in Gandhinagar, 14 each in Panchmahals and Aravalli, 13 in Bhavnagar, 12 in Anand, 10 in Patan, nine in Mahesana and eight in Banaskantha.
On Monday, a total of 339 patients were discharged, taking the total so far to 16,672.
Of the total cases, Ahmedabad continues to lead with 16,967, followed by Surat with 2,643, Vadodara with 1,602, Gandhinagar with 482, Mahesana with 187, Bhavnagar with 169, Rajkot with 157, Banaskantha with 152, Aravalli with 146, Sabarkantha with 141, Anand with 129, Panchmahals with 126, Mahisagar with 120, Patan with 117, Kheda with 106, Kutch with 104, Bharuch with 93, Jamnagar with 82, Surendranagar with 78, Botad with 67, Valsad with 59 and Gir-Somnath with 50.
A total of 2,92,909 RT-PCR tests have been carried out so far.
There are 5,926 active cases, out of which 71 critical patients are still on ventilator and the rest are stable.
A total of 2,11,867 people are quarantined in the state, where 2,07,290 are home quarantined and 4,658 in government facilities.
