In a significant development on Sunday, Government Railway Police apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals and an Indian citizen from Ambassa in Dhalai district. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sudeb Jaldas and Nima Das, two siblings from Rajarhula village in Noakhali district, Bangladesh, along with Sajib Das from Bauria village in Chittagong district, Bangladesh, and their Indian associate Bikas Das of South 24 Parganas district, Kolkata.
According to Police, the trio from Bangladesh entered India through Sonamura, a border area, and reached Ambasa railway station by road. The group's suspicious behavior caught the attention of Ambasa Railway Police when their intended train, the Kanchenjunga Express, was delayed, prompting further investigation.
Upon interrogation, discrepancies emerged in their statements, leading to the arrest of the four individuals. The detained suspects are currently held at Ambassa police station, where joint investigations are underway involving local, state, and central intelligence agencies. Legal action has been initiated under various sections, including the Passport Act.
Sources reveal that Bikas Das had allegedly facilitated the trio's journey to Kolkata. The arrested individuals claimed to have ventured into India due to economic constraints, asserting a lack of opportunities in their home country.
