In a tragic incident father and his 7 years old daughter drowned at Manu river at the time of bathing at Jalai village of Kailashahar today. Although the local youths recovered the body of father Indrajit Das (35), they failed to find the body of Papiya Das. Meanwhile NDRF team has started search in the river.
Sources said that family of Indrajit Das went to bath in Manu river like other days. At first his wife went back after completion of bath. But current of river floated away Indrajit Das and his daughter Papiya Das in depth of river as soon as they went in river to bath. His wife did not get any trace when she came for search observing that they were not coming back.
Meanwhile the youths of the locality started starch at downstream area of the river. After few time they discovered body of Indrajit Das. On being informed Police and NDRF team rushed to the spot at 4 p.m. But they failed seek out body of Papiya. Search operation is going on till the last report came in. NDRF team along with local youth is continuing search on motor boat. Indrajit was a daily labourer and dweller of ward no-5 of Jalai Panchayat. The incident of death has brought down a poll of gloom in the area.
