The state education minister Ratan Lal Nath on Tuesday denied privatization of the education sector of the state of Tripura and expressed his concern over misinformation regarding the government’s new policy to regulate private participation in the school education sector of Tripura.
Addressing a press conference this evening Nath said, “A minor section of the media is rendering false information regarding the policy of private participation in school education by saying that the entire education sector of the state is being handed over to the private firms by the government.”
“The government in its cabinet meeting on October 26 last had decided to introduce a policy of private participation in the school education sector, where the unutilized and zero enrollment government aided schools shall be handed over with the interested private firms so as to build up quality education in the rural pockets of the state,” Nath clarified.
He said that under the policy, the Tripura government shall notify expression of interest twice in a year for private participation. If any private educational firms are interested they can invest in our state and set up their education infrastructure while the government shall offer them the unutilized schools, he said.
The education minister however said that misinformation and false news shall only damage the image of the state and shall not meet the purpose of developing the state.
