The Election Commission of India on Tuesday declared by-elections for two Tripura constituencies of 20-Boxanagar and 23-Dhanpur on September 5 next.
According to the press note of the ECI, the last date of making nomination is scheduled on August 17 next, while the last date of withdrawal of candidatures is August 21 next.
The date of counting for the by-elections for two constituencies will be held on September 8, while the ECI has instructed to complete the elections by September 10.
The seat of 20-Boxanagar assembly constituency was left vacant with the demise of CPI-M MLA Samsul Haque, while the MP Pratima Bhoumik had resigned from the post of MLA leaving the seat of 23-Dhanpur assembly constituency vacant.
The ECI also declared by-election for three other states of Jharkhand, Kerala, West Bengal and two assembly constituencies of Uttarakhand on September 5.
