In a significant operation based on a credible tip-off, the Tripura Police, in collaboration with BSF and TSR personnel, conducted a raid at Maman Mia's residence near the Bishalgarh Forest Office late on Sunday night. The operation yielded a substantial cache of illicit substances including 350 bottles of intoxicating cough syrup, 2,665 bottles of Phensedyl and a staggering 48,000 intoxicating tablets.
Despite the sizeable drug recovery, the suspects managed to evade arrest, having received advanced warning of the impending police action. Bishalgarh Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Tapas Das, confirmed that the operation was initiated following confidential information regarding the presence of a large quantity of illicit drugs at Maman Mia's residence. The intelligence was subsequently shared with BSF jawans, TSRs and the sub-divisional administration of the Gokulnagar BSF camp.
During the search operation, which was conducted under the supervision of the sub-divisional Deputy Commissioner of Police, drugs with an estimated street value of Rs 9 lakh were confiscated. However, as of today, no arrests have been made. OC Tapas Das stated that a dedicated case will be filed against the owner of the house.
