Voter list of six assembly constituencies rectified in Dhalai district during summery revision for assembly poll in 2018. The first phase continued from August 24 to September 22 this year and second phase continued from November 15 to 30, said DM of Dhalai Bikash Singh at a press conference in presence of SP of the Dhalai Smriti Ranjan Das and ADM D.K. Chakma in Ambassa today. The press conference organized to inform about steps taken by the State Election Commission according to instruction of ECI after hearing allegations opposition parties.
DM said, 10476 numbers Form -6, 2940 Form-7, 1779 form-8 and 889 form 8(A) received during 2 phases. Altogether 254 names excluded from the voters list after seeking out fake voters. Besides 65 photographs of voters and 172 voter numbers and 14892 voter names rectified during the revision. Meanwhile 54 BLOs have been shifted from the works of election on failing to perform responsibility.
DM further added, many systems adopted to conduct the election freely and fairly. Steps have been taken to spread awareness among students of different schools and colleges who completed 18 to 19 years age and quiz competition will be organized among them from December 10 to 15. The information related to election will be provided to people through Whatsapp and FaceBook.
He said, initiative has been taken to make 351 polling stations as model polling station in 6 assembly constituencies of the district. Water, power, separate toilet for men and women, ramp for physically challenged persons will be provided in the polling stations.
SP said that stress would be given for safety and security of polling stations separating the sensitive and problematic polling stations.
