Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday announced that the development and beautification works of the Tripura Sundari Temple will be completed soon, after which it will be established as a prominent tourist destination in the country.
Dr. Saha said this while inaugurating the Tripura Sundari Utsav-2024, organized at the Matabari temple premises in Udaipur on Wednesday evening.
“Mata Tripura Sundari Mandir is a symbol of faith for all of us. This temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in the country. In the future, once the infrastructural development of the temple is completed, it will be established as one of the leading tourist attractions in the country. The socio-economic conditions of the area will also improve significantly,” he said.
Dr. Saha credited the idea of organizing the Tripura Sundari festival to Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, with the cooperation of the local MLA, Abhishek Debroy, and others.
“Now, this festival is officially organized under the management of the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs. Around one hundred artists from different regions will perform cultural programs during the festival. A large number of people from all over India, including the Northeast region and Bangladesh, visit here, especially during Diwali. Many tourists and devotees frequently visit the temple, and events like this, especially on the occasion of Mahalaya, are truly joyous. This will foster a blend of devotion and tradition, helping preserve and uphold our cultural heritage,” said the Chief Minister.
Discussing further, Dr. Saha added, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has allocated funds for the development of this temple under the PRASAD scheme. More than Rs. 37 crore has been provided for various development projects. Recently, a meeting of the Trust responsible for the overall development of the Tripura Sundari Temple was held, and I am the chairman of that Trust. During the meeting, we discussed the timeline for completing the newly built temple. The contractor in charge of construction has assured that the work will be finished very soon. Once completed, the temple will stand as one of the top tourist destinations in the country. With this development, there will also be an increase in surrounding businesses, including shops and hotels.”
Distinguished guests at the event included Gomati Zilla Parishad Chairman Debal Debroy, Matabari MLA Abhishek Debroy, MLA Rampada Jamatia, MLA Jitendra Majumdar, Gomati District Magistrate Tarit Kanti Chakma, and other dignitaries.
