74 Bn BSF and Sonamura police today destroyed illegal cannabis plantation in the area spread over in 22 hectares of the land in-depth forest area of village UNC Nagar, Nutan Colony in Sonamura Sub Division of Sepahijala district.
The joint operation party carried out the destruction of matured cannabis plants maintaining social distancing and observing the necessary protocol of Covid-19. This is the maiden biggest smash of Ganja plants operation of January 2021.
Based on the credible information of mass cultivation of ganja crops shared by the local police, the joint raid party comprising troops of 74 Bn BSF and Sonamura police led by Sh. J. Mathew, Assistant Commandant of 74 Bn BSF conducted a successful raid at the plantation site in the forest area in Village UNC Nagar, Nutan Colony, and destroyed approx. 110000 mature ganja plants cultivated over 22 hectares of forest land. The destruction value was estimated worth Rs. 55, 00, 000/-.
So far since last year, 74 Bn BSF along with state police and other agencies have conducted many operations in different areas of Sepahijala district and destroyed approx. 25.46 lakh mature ganja plants cultivated over 310 hectares of forest land having an estimated value Rs 9.79 crore and made a valuable contribution towards the state’s mission of “Drug-Free Tripura”.
